After the 2016 election, where Donald Trump lost the popular vote but won in the electoral college, I was curious how brittle his win was. One measure I thought of was “How few counties would you need to move to an adjacent state to change the election outcome?” But answering that question was difficult.

This tool was born initially to answer that question, but has since become a favourite of many mapmakers and enthusiasts as well as social studies teachers across the US. I’m always interested in seeing the maps people come up with and am still responding to issues years later on Github.
